Family Empowerment Project (FEP)

The Family Empowerment Project is a new project funded by the County of Fresno Employment and Temporary Assistant to provide family support and advocacy services including SSI advocacy to refugee families.  The projects primary goal is to help CalWORKs and low-income families to receive family support and advocacy services to become self-reliant and self-sufficient in the community. 

The goal of the project are to :

  • Promote healthy, stable and financially self-reliant families
  • Increase knowledge of community resources available including SS to help prevent and/ or address physical, social and mental health problems
  • Educate participants on life skills needed to cope with demands or working, children, money management, health and other issues

Services include but not limited to:

  • Outreach
  • Intake and assessment
  • Community resources education
  • Assisting in completing SSI eligibility application and following up
  • Advocacy
  • Preventive, motivational and educational services
  • Transportation for emergency or urgent situation and case by case with advanced schedule
  • Information and referral services
