Telecom
Many arriving refugees, immigrants, and New Americans communities face many challenges as they try to transition into their new community. One of these challenges, particularly faced by the arriving Hmong refugees, is in the area of telecom and understanding their telecom rights, because of language and cultural barriers. To address this issue, Fresno Center for New Americans (FCNA), through its funding from the California Consumer Protection Foundation, created the “Telecom Project” to meet the needs of the arriving Hmong refugees and our diverse new American communities. The purpose of the Telecom project is to assist Hmong families and new Americans with access to telecom rights. In addition, the Telecom project provides educational workshops and informational materials on consumer protection.
